The Venue and Company

Located in the Mayfield Village Civic Center, originally a church, the venue has been modified to support the Fairmount Center for the Arts theatre wing, Fairmount Performing Arts Conservatory (FPAC).   As with most converted venues, the space can be challenging with very limited wing space, live acoustics and no place to put an orchestra.  What the space doesn't lack is talent.  FPAC and the company's Ohio Premiere of Thirteen delivered a high quality show that sold out their first run.   This encore presentation brings back the entire company and with the support of the above manufacturers plans to be a show not to miss.

Technically Challenged

So what do you get when you run sound in a space that has no room for an orchestra on stage?  And needs to have clarity w/ a little bit of umph.   For one, the orchestra is located on another floor, add to that thirteen wireless microphones, monitors, and some video cameras.   So -- pretty much typical for a lot of theatres.   Stop over to see how the system came together to run this show.

The musical Thirteen opens September 24th and runs for three weekends.

Technical Design

I'll be running the DiGiCo SD8 for FOH w/ the SD8 MaDi Rack on stage.   13 Lectrosonic VR Digital Hybrid microphones (variety);  d&b audiotechnik D6 amps w/ T10s for House and T10s for orchestra w/ two B4 subs.  Add to that SFX for audio playback/show control, LightFactory for lighting control, RF Guru for Frequency coordination and ShowBuilder for paperwork management.   ADK ProAudio is supplying the show computer.   Bunch of other fun toys to play with.... and maybe win in a drawing.

Technicians are welcome to visit the open house and get hands on with this excellent equipment.   C.L. Pugh and Lectrosonics will be providing expert reps to answer questions.
