Stage Research Supplies SFX 6 Deluxe for Coyote REP Theatre Company's "The New Normal"

David Steinberg October 19th, 2010 : Stage Research, a leading developer of audio and lighting software, continues its outreach program to local and regional theaters with a new initiative earmarked for the Coyote REP Theatre Companyís production of "The New Normal" in Greenwich Village. The play spotlights the lives of young women who have survived breast cancer.

"We've been working to supply theater companies nationwide with low-cost rentals of our SFX 6 Deluxe," says Stage Research cofounder Carlton Guc. "We furnish them with a computer, keyboard, mouse, Audio Fire 8 sound card and SFX, our flagship product for creating reliable and enriched soundscapes. In the case of Coyote REP, I did some training for their sound designer, Mitch Greenhill, as well."

Guc learned of Coyote REPís need to upgrade when he saw an Internet posting by Greenhill requesting help updating the non-profit theater companyís equipment and programs.

"Our theater is a little antiquated," admits artistic director Donnetta Lavinia Grays. "'The New Normal' features a lot of intricate sound elements - a guy playing a guitar, distortion, an answering machine - a lot of space and non-space sound elements. The way weíre set up in the theater, we didnít know what we were going to get speaker-wise. We needed a sound effects program that would be reliable and stress-free."

Stage Research to the rescue with a low-cost rental that has enabled Greenhill to use SFX 6 Deluxe to easily program and reliably run all of the playís sound effects cues for each performance. "It has worked out very well for Mitch," reports Grays. "SFX has been wonderful. I canít even begin to express how grateful we are to Stage Research for their help."
